Annual Awards Ceremony

Each Year, Squamish Minor Hockey Association recognizes the contributions of our amazing players coaches, assistant coaches, on-ice helpers, team managers, officials, and volunteers at the Annual Awards Ceremony.

Members have an opportunity to nominate one another for several coveted awards, including:

COACH NOMINATED AWARDS

U18C Bryce Delikatny Award for Sportsperson of the Year

Phil Lacoursiere Award for 3rd Year U18 Players who attended the annual scholarship tournament. Phil was the oldest of three brothers, all of whom grew up in Squamish and played hockey with Squamish Minor Hockey Association. Phil was one of the first SMHA players to win a scholarship through the U18 tournament and was set to attend university back east in the fall after the completion of his final year of hockey in the spring. Unfortunately, Phil passed away in a tragic car accident that May at the age of 19. This award is given in his memory.

U15C Terry Salmon Award for the Most Improved Player

U13C Bob Hill Award for the Most Improved Player: Bob Hill was a very special and respected coach for many years with SMHA. He passed away in the mid 1990’s, but his legacy of dedication and motivation lives on through this award.

The John Hunter Award: the Hunter family has been an integral part of Squamish Minor Hockey for years, and this award recognizes service and contribution for the betterment of Squamish Minor Hockey.
